JOIN THIS INSPIRING TEAM

As the Comox Valley will play host to some of the most elite winter athletes in the world, it will take an extraordinary team to coordinate the IPC Nordic Skiing World Cup Finals. Over 125 athletes from 24 countries will be visiting the Comox Valley to compete and train on our local mountain!

In order to accommodate the athletes, as well as IPC competition standards, it requires over 350 dynamic and dedicated volunteers. As a volunteer you will receive complimentary breakfast and/or lunch during your shifts and will be invited to take part in a variety of community and athlete socials held throughout the week. You will witness the very best in athletic competition and even receive a memento in recognition of help!

Volunteers are required for:

Team Attaché
As ambassadors for the Comox Valley and the world cup event, our role is to help the teams make a comfortable transition to our environment. Attaché's must have their own transportation.

* A full-time commitment is required from March 7 to March 16. Effective communication skills are necessary and a second language would be preferred.

Technical Crew
·         Cross Country or Biathlon – Secretariat
·         Stadium and Competition Control
·         Course
·         Timing & Results
·         Doping control
·         Medical

* Must also be available for 1-2 training sessions. This is a great opportunity to gain experience to help in 2010!

General Volunteer
·         Dispatchers and shuttle van drivers
·         Food tent
·         Community welcome event team
·         Banquet volunteers
·         Ceremonies/awards volunteers
·         Sponsor fulfillment
·         Marketing and media
·         Set up and take down crew
·         Athlete compound
·         First aid / medical

* Some volunteers may be required to complete a criminal records check.

Volunteers will be involved in work and play as we showcase our ability as a community to hold events of this caliber. If you, or your group, are interested in being a part of this dynamic team, a representative from the Comox Valley World Cup Organizing Committee can attend your next meeting to provide a brief presentation on volunteer opportunities and answer any questions you may have.
